Contrary to popular opinion, there is an 'I' in teamwork! (Yes, all those posters that claim otherwise are just plain wrong!)

 

We all know that high-performance teamwork results in improved products and services for customers and other stakeholders; we also know that teams are the proven way to accomplish an organization's strategic performance objectives. So why do so many teams flounder and fail to deliver consistent results? It's not because teams are a bad idea . . .

 

 

 

Although there are several reasons why teams fail to perform, one of the most prevalent is a lack of individual accountability. This typically occurs when an organization focuses on developing team concepts without first establishing a foundation of individual commitment—in essence, before you can have self-directed teams, you must have self-directed individuals. Teimwork® is a workshop designed to integrate the individual accountability model into any team environment.

The Teimwork® team development workshop focuses on the most critical aspects of sustainable, winning teams. The target audience includes:

Teimwork® uses a combination of experiential learning exercises, stimulating discussion, and breakout sessions to encourage direct participation and interaction, unleash creativity, open the mind to possibility-thinking—and maximize the learning.

Maximum class size is limited to 32 participants. The Teimwork® workshop is delivered in two different lengths:

  • One-day workshop made up of two half-day modules. Each module includes 3 hours and 40 minutes of instructional material plus one 20 minute break (4 hours in total).
  • If attendees have experienced one of the EffortAdvantage programs, then Teimwork® can be delivered in a half-day format (the foundational principles found in the EffortAdvantage suite are the same as those found in Teimwork®).

 

Level 2 learning outcomes for the Teimwork® workshop include the ability to:

  • Differentiate between a focus on "results” and a focus on “process,” and be able to incorporate this performance-enhancing message into a team environment.
  • Use the Results Formula to determine the appropriate steps to ensure team success.
  • Use the four quadrants of the Performance Grid to identify the behavioral inhibitors to team success.
  • Identify the steps necessary to achieve results using the Step It! system.
  • Implement the "inch-by-inch" incremental improvement process.
  • Maximize peer reinforcement opportunities using the AFR (activity focused reinforcement) method of recognition and reinforcement.
  • Implement the TPC (think/plan/commit) method to improve team problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Build trust in a team environment.
  • Communicate upward and laterally when asking for help, exchanging ideas, sharing opinions—even when admitting mistakes.
  • Deal with unacceptable behavior within a team environment.
  • Constructively disagree with team members without compromising the ability to work as a team.
